The facilities of The Singular Patagonia were formerly used as the main headquarter of the Bories Cold Storage Plant, an important stockbreeding center where the ovine cattle was processed and then exported to the European markets. This building, declared a Historical National Monument in 1996, operated intensely for almost seven decades, creating job opportunities and contributing to the development of Patagonia. This center was one of the main reasons why Puerto Natales was founded in 1911.
After a hard work of restoration, The Singular inaugurated this hotel in November 2011, earning a privileged site amongst the tourist complex in the area. As is the case with all the projects developed by The Singular Hotels, its main objective was to preserve the buildings’ architectural and cultural value. Today, The Singular Patagonia is a luxury hotel with 54 standard rooms, 3 suits, one fully equipped Spa, a bar, restaurant, and a meeting room, amongst many other services.
During my stay I was able to experience the comfort of the hotel. Its rooms are spacious, with traditional furniture and they boast a stunning view of the fjords of Última Esperanza Sound. This environment that creates a unique atmosphere that will let you connect with the Deep Patagonia. I had a great experience at the hotel’s restaurant, for its varied menu features local ingredients, such as Magellanic lamb and spider crab, and gourmet ingredients, allowing for a unique mixture of tradition and innovation. The presentation of the dishes is superb, the service is excellent, and the staff is very attentive.
The Spa overlooks the fjord, making it the perfect place to rest after the day activities. You can dive in the heated pool or enjoy a relaxing massage with organic plants, fruits, oils and creams that will let you relax and regain your strengths.
Also, the hotel offers several excursions, ranging from a soft hike to a demanding trekking circuit, as well as a mini tour around the hotel’s facilities to see the cold storage machinery and let yourself be transported to the nineteenth century.
The The Singular Patagonia is a unique hotel, both for its approach and history as well as its location and services. Staying there and having a true Patagonian experience are privileges that you will not forget.
